Apretude Workshop: Pill-free PrEP

Oak Lawn Pharmacy recently hosted an event to introduce a groundbreaking new form of PrEP medication: Apretude. Apretude is a pill-free injection that provides protection against HIV transmission. This medication is a game-changer for those who find it difficult to adhere to daily pill regimens or experience adverse side effects from oral PrEP.

Apretude is a long-acting injectable medication that works by releasing the active ingredients over a period of time, providing protection against HIV transmission for up to 8 weeks. The injection contains two active ingredients, cabotegravir, and rilpivirine, which are also found in oral medication, but with Apretude, they are delivered directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system.

The introduction of Apretude is a significant step forward in HIV prevention, particularly for individuals who find it challenging to adhere to daily oral PrEP regimens. With Apretude, patients only need an injection every eight weeks rather than taking a pill daily. This ease of use can significantly improve medication adherence and reduce the risk of HIV transmission.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Apretude and its benefits. Healthcare representatives were on hand to answer questions and provide information about the medication.

Apretude is a significant development in HIV prevention and represents a promising new option for individuals at risk of HIV transmission. Oak Lawn Pharmacy is proud to have hosted an event to raise awareness and educate the community about this groundbreaking medication. As a pharmacy that specializes in HIV treatment, we are committed to providing the latest and most effective treatments to our patients.

We look forward to seeing the impact that Apretude will have on the fight against HIV transmission.
