This medication is a game-changer for those who find it difficult to adhere to daily pill regimens or experience adverse side effects from oral PrEP.

Apretude is a long-acting injectable medication that works by releasing the active ingredients over a period of time, providing protection against HIV transmission for up to 8 weeks. The injection contains two active ingredients, cabotegravir, and rilpivirine, which are also found in oral medication, but with Apretude, they are delivered directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system.
